What You’ll Find on This Page

This page gathers everything you need to know about our fees and funding options. You can jump straight to the section you need:

💫 Still unsure? You’ll also find a link to our Fees, Funding, Rebates, & Payment FAQs at the bottom of the page.

Therapy Fees

Our therapy sessions are billed at a flat rate, so you always know what to expect:

       ✨ 50–60 minute session with a registered psychologist – $230

      Many clients can claim a Medicare or private health rebate — see below for details.

💡 This fee reflects not only the time we spend together, but also the preparation, professional development, and administrative work that supports your care. Our rates are informed by national recommendations from the APS and AAPi, which currently suggest $315–$318 per 50 minute session. We’ve chosen a rate that balances sustainability with accessibility.

Why do sessions run for 50–60 minutes?
While Medicare guidelines define a standard session as 50 minutes, we allow a little extra buffer time (up to 60 minutes) when possible. This gives us a chance to wind down thoughtfully and transition out of the session in a more grounded way, rather than ending abruptly. For those who prefer more time to slow down and explore things in greater depth, 90‑minute sessions are also available when booking. These are charged at our standard hourly rate (an additional $115).

Assessment Fees

Every assessment process is unique. The number of sessions and tools used depend on age, goals, and what we’re exploring together.

Rather than fixed packages, we offer a personalised, session-by-session model, billed at our standard rate of $230 per 50–60 minute session.

You’ll only pay for the sessions you complete, and we’ll outline the expected structure after your intake session so you know exactly what to expect.

🌙 What's Typically Included

Most assessments involve:

  • Intake session – understanding background, goals, and developmental history;

  • Questionnaires & screeners – usually 1–2 hours for administration and scoring;

  • Structured interviews or standardised testing sessions – the main data-gathering stage;

  • Report writing & interpretation – typically 4–8 hours depending on complexity;

  • Feedback session – 1 hour, to discuss results and recommendations.

If you’d like to see what each of these stages looks like in practice, you can explore our full Assessment Process page for a detailed step-by-step guide.

⚡ Typical Timeframes

  • Autism assessments – around 6–8 hours of direct contact plus 6 hours of report writing

  • ADHD assessments – around 5–7 hours of direct contact plus 4 hours of report writing

  • Combined (AuDHD) assessments – around 7–9 hours of direct contact plus 8 hours of report writing

  • Cognitive & learning assessments – around 4–6 hours of direct contact plus 4–6 hours of report writing, depending on the number of standardised tools used

(These ranges are estimates; your psychologist will confirm your personalised outline after intake.)

Some cognitive and learning sessions need to be completed in person in Meanjin (Brisbane) or Naarm (Melbourne) to ensure standardisation. All other components — such as intake, questionnaires, and feedback — can usually be completed via Telehealth.

💡 Under a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (GPMHTP), the intake, rapport-building, and feedback sessions are rebateable.

After intake, you’ll receive a personalised Assessment Guide and Booking Plan outlining your session structure, estimated report hours, and screener costs.

Optional Add-Ons

In some cases, it can be helpful to include additional sessions to support collaboration or deepen understanding.
These are billed at our standard session rate ($230 per 50–60 minutes) unless a shorter or longer timeframe is agreed upon.

Examples include:

  • School, kindy, or daycare observations (available in Meanjin/Brisbane or Naarm/Melbourne) to understand how a child learns, plays, or socialises in familiar settings.

  • Consultations or meetings with other professionals such as teachers, allied health clinicians, or GPs, to support consistent care across settings.

  • Additional feedback sessions, including separate child/adolescent-friendly sessions or follow-ups to revisit and consolidate findings.

All additional sessions are optional and can be discussed after your intake or feedback session, depending on what would be most helpful for you or your family.

📝 Written summaries or tailored letters (for schools, workplaces, or funding bodies such as the NDIS) can also be arranged at the same hourly rate.

Medicare Rebates

You may be eligible for a $98.97 rebate per therapy session, and for some assessment sessions, under a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (GPMHTP) from your GP (as of July 2025). We handle the rebate processing on your behalf after you’ve made full payment.

  • Under Medicare’s Better Access initiative, you are entitled to up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year. The GPMHTP referral covers up to 6 initial sessions, and your GP can approve up to 4 more following a review.

  • This rebate applies when working with a registered (general) psychologist, and assumes a valid GPMHTP and referral are in place before your first session.

We also support:

  • GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) – Up to 5 sessions per calendar year.

We’re happy to help you explore your options and see what’s right for you.

💡 Did you know? If your out-of-pocket medical costs reach a certain amount in a calendar year, you may be eligible for higher rebates under the Medicare Safety Net. Learn more about how the Medicare Safety Net works.

Other Funding Options

We accept:

  • NDIS (self-managed and plan-managed)

    • Self-managed – you pay us directly and then claim the cost back from the NDIS.

    • Plan-managed – we send invoices to your plan manager, who pays us on your behalf.

  • Private health insurance

    • If you’re using private health, you’ll need to pay the full session fee upfront and then submit the claim yourself to your health fund.

    • Each fund is different - some offer rebates for psychology, while others may not - so it’s best to check with your provider about what’s covered under your policy.

If you’re unsure which option applies to you, just let us know. We’re happy to talk it through.

Medicare Safety Net

If your out-of-pocket costs for Medicare services add up over the year, you may reach the Medicare Safety Net threshold, which increases your rebate amount for the rest of the year.

💡 Helpful to know:

  • Higher rebates kick in automatically once you reach the threshold.

  • If you’re on a concession/pension card, DSP, or are a student, you’ll reach the threshold sooner.

  • Families can register together to pool expenses and reach it faster.

Check your progress via MyGov or Medicare, or reach out and we can walk you through it.

Cancellations & Missed Appointments

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session.

  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice: 50% of the session fee

  • Non-attendance without notice: Full session fee applies
